You’re Invited: Rooted in Fire Thanksgiving Week Event in Carlsbad

As the season of harvest and gathering arrives, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than sharing a table, or in this case, a room with friends, family, and community. On Friday, November 22, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, I’ll be at Carlsbad City Library for a special Thanksgiving Week event to celebrate the release of my debut cookbook, Rooted in Fire: a Celebration of Native American and Mexican Cooking.

This book is more than just recipes. It’s the story of my heritage, my family, and the lands that shaped me. Every dish I create is infused with the traditions of my Prairie Band Potawatomi and Mexican roots, flavors that speak of resilience, connection, and a deep respect for the earth. At this event, I’ll be sharing the inspiration behind the recipes, personal stories from my journey, and how food can connect us to each other and to our roots.

Hearing Gordon Ramsay call my food “extraordinary” still humbles me, but what matters most is bringing these dishes — and the culture behind them — to more tables across the country.
