LA Weekly Spotlights Pyet’s Plate Indigenous Fusion Pop-Up in Koreatown

I’m incredibly honored to be featured in LA Weekly for my Indigenous Fusion pop-up at Red Room wine bar in Koreatown. It means so much to see Native cuisine and culture getting this kind of spotlight in one of LA’s most iconic food publications.

In their article “Paella Nights at Lunetta and Ramen Burgers in Little Tokyo — Here’s What’s Popping Up”, LA Weeklyincluded a beautiful write-up about the event, celebrating how Pyet’s Plate brings together the flavors of my Native American and Mexican roots.

From braised bison and smoked tepary beans to vibrant tomatillo-forward dishes, this menu was a tribute to the ancestral ingredients that have shaped generations — reimagined in bold, modern ways. I also had the chance to collaborate with some incredible Native creatives.

The wine list featured bottles from Camins 2 Dreams, an Indigenous, woman-led winemaking team whose pours matched the heart of the menu. The space came alive with dance performances by Jamaal-Isaac Jones (Navajo Nation) on Friday and Saturday, and a special pop-up mural was installed by the incredible Native artist Lauren “Siyowin” Peters.

This wasn’t just about food — it was about storytelling, community, and representation. The fact that LA Weekly included it in their curated list of must-attend events in LA shows how hungry people are to experience the richness of Indigenous culture in all its forms.

Thank you to everyone who walked through those doors, took a bite, sipped, danced, and stayed to celebrate. And thank you to LA Weekly for helping amplify voices that haven’t always had the chance to be heard — or tasted.

More pop-ups and cultural collaborations are coming soon. I can’t wait to share what’s next.

With love,

– Pyet
